“Temperature Controls in the city of Port-Au-Prince in Haiti"
The capital city of my country is Port-au-Prince. The latitude and longitude of the capital city is: 18.5333° N,
72.3333° W. The warmest month in my city is year round,
but with low precipitation in Decembers with an average monthly temperature of
82.6 F. The coldest month in my city is February with an average monthly
temperature of 80.F. Based on the information above the annual range of temperature
for my city is: 81.3 F. Website where I found this information: http://www.haiti.climatemps.com. Port Au Prince is the capital of Haiti, which
is located north of the Ecuador and surrounded by large mass of water.
Therefore, Haiti major temperature control is “differential Heating of land and
water, altitudes and geographic location.”
Because of it’s location Haiti traditional has warmer climate thru out
the days. The only temperature control
that I can think of having almost little impact is altitude, however Haiti those
have mountain range between its neighboring country the Domican Replublic. Which, brings to mind the similarity in that
range with the mountains that we have here on Oahu.
In meteorology 101 I have
learned factors that affect the earth thru ocean currents and the rise of sea
level. I have learned about how light is reflected off land, heating of land
and the rise in air temperature. For, Haiti there has been predictions that are
out dated, but make sense stating that there would be rainfall or possible
drought. Given, the location of Haiti it can possibly have a season of non stop
rain or drought with global warming. Haiti is surrounded by ocean; there are variety
of factors that affect the ocean current such as the melting of caps, how much sunlight
is available and clouds. Since, Haiti is
located about the equator it will have access to more sun, but less season as
well. In conclusion, I believed that
with global warming and melting of caps, Haiti will experience more rain that
average.

I have attached figure 1. reflecting an example of the climate in Haiti, per the CIA Haiti has a tropical climate and as the altitude changes so does the temperature some which is affected by the mountain blocking the trade winds making it hotter. Due to its location Haiti has a hot and humid tropical climate.
